FIRST VIEW OF PRESQU’ILE: TRENEAR RD. AT TRENT VALLEY RD.
Version Date: May 2016
Hastings to Presqu’ile Provincial Park
52 km of Northumberland doing what it does best.
This is one of those rides where you occasionally look around and say to yourself “I can’t believe I’m in Ontario. For sure I’m in New England somewhere.”.
Lots of hills, bucolic scenery, amusing farm animals who come out to the road to greet you. The charming hamlet of Warkworth, the surprising steepness of the old Lake Iroquois shoreline and the mobs of migrating spring birds at Presqu’ile Provincial Park in the spring.
Ridden in its entirety, May 2016 long weekend by a small group, two of whom were heading for a day of birding at the park and a weekend cycling loop around Rice Lake. The Peterborough to Hastings section was ridden on the Trans-Canada Trail. I’m not including that section in the route as there are so many ways to get to Hastings, some documented on this site, that I’ll leave it up to the rider’s own personal preferences.
One concession of dirt, in very good shape.
